Dr. R. Norris Keeler Recognized for Advancing International Scientific Cooperation

The successor to the Soviet Academy of Sciences, the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, has awarded its Gold Medal to Dr. R. Norris Keeler for "prominent services in the area of fundamental and applied sciences and for major contributions to the development of international scientific cooperation." Dr. Keeler has served on the AFCEA Technical Committee since 1990 and is the technical adviser to SIGNAL Magazine. He is an AFCEA associate director and a director of Directed Technologies Incorporated, Arlington, Virginia. Currently, he is leading a major U.S., Russian, Canadian and German scientific effort known as the Remote Anthropogenic Sensing Program. The experiments are being done in Hawaii using commercial satellites and air and seaborne platforms.
