Scientists at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have found a potential solution for measuring the size of tiny vessels on lab-on-a-chip technology, which offers a wide variety of uses, including toxin detection and medical analysis. The NIST approach could meet a vital need in the microfluidics industry and could be especially important for miniaturized devices that, for example, rely on volume measurements to report the concentration of a particular molecule in a mixture.
