Anew position location system under development by the U.S. Navy combines satellite and radio links to provide battlefield plotting while offering friendly force identification to attacking platforms. Users can access the system's full capabilities using the display on a laptop computer, and position identification hardware can be assembled in a manpack configuration for special operations forces.
