摘要

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has issued new awards in its program named INCLUDES-Inclusion Across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science. The awards will begin to develop a national network to broaden participation in STEM disciplines. They will establish a coordination hub and five alliances that form partnerships across public, private and academic sectors. SRI International will receive $4.4 million to establish the hub, while the alliance award recipients will receive varying amounts. CYBER THREATS ON THE RISE The number of adversaries mounting cyber attacks against the United States will grow in the next year as nation-states, terrorist groups and others persist in developing cyber warfare capabilities, an intelligence official warned during recent congressional testimony. Michael Moss, deputy director of the Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center, said Russia, China, Iran and North Korea pose the greatest threats. "Our adversaries are becoming more assertive, more capable and more adept at using cyberspace to threaten our interests," he said before the Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism.
