Stolt-nielsen announced an eight per cent increase in net income for the financial year ending 30 November 2007. They announced a growth in revenue and operating income driven by strong markets, with uncertainty in the chemical tanker sector. However, last year's figures included a one-off gain on discontinued operations and contract coverage of the fleet would keep it insulated from the difficult times other operators were experiencing. The company had a slight scare on 16 April when the chemical/ products tanker Stolt Span (1999/14,900gt), on a voyage from Durban to New York with a cargo of chemicals, grounded at Bayonne, New Jersey.
