HD look to mainland

With their channel Islands St Malo service now into a second year, HD Ferries are reported to be looking to start a UK mainland link during 2009, with Portsmouth emerging as the favoured port. But the 2morrow Group company could find itself needing two new craft as it has emerged that HD were close to selling existing vessel, the Incat K-Class catamaran HD1, to an American company earlier this year. Ride Ocean Zoom want HD1 to launch a service from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Freeport, Grand Bahamas, but deferred plans to 2009 due to HD Ferries being unable to secure a replacement vessel. Both HD and Condor Ferries have cut sailings to St Malo in an effort to save fuel.
