DUTCH TUG CAPSIZES OFF PETERHEAD

Three crewmen were rescued uninjured from the sinking tug Usselstroom (below) after their vessel capsized while assisting a stone barge near the entrance to Peterhead harbour on 6 June. The 19.5m Ijsselstroom is owned by Dutch marine services contractors Van Wijngaarden Marine Services. A twin-screw vessel of 900bhp, she was built in 1992 and has a bollard pull of 15 tonnes. Usselstroom was one of two tugs assisting the barge Tak Boa 1, laden with 5,500 tonnes of stone.
