With the final passenger sailings by the chartered vessel Scottish Viking on 14 December fast approaching, DFDS Seaways officials met Scotland's Fife Council to explain reasons for switching the Rosyth-Zeebrugge service, acquired as part of the Norfolkline takeover last July, to freight-only. DFDS vice president Andreas Tesch stressed that the combined passenger/freight concept had been a constant loss-maker since the route was reopened by Norfolkline in May last year, with DFDS planning to continue with two 12-driver freight ro-ro vessels offering a total of four return trips each week.
