The tug fleet of Iskes Towage & Salvage, based at Umuiden in the Netherlands, continues to grow in prominence and size. Towards the end of 2011 the company purchased two vessels and placed an important order for two 'state-of-the-art' 'Hybrid' tugs.rnA contract has been signed with Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld and Offshore Ship Designers (OSD) to construct two vessels torna revolutionary ASD 3212 'Green Tug' design produced jointly by Iskes, OSD and Damen. Intended to reduce CO_2, Sox and Nox emissions by 30 per cent, the 'Green' tugs will have diesel-electric propulsion, incorporating electrically powered azimuthing propulsion units, a bow thruster and winch.
