After a year of setbacks and hard work, both on Shieldhall and behind the scenes, significant progress has been made on funding, with offers of assistance to get the vessel back to sea. Draft sailing plans are being drawn up to ensure Shieldhall plays her role in this year's programme of maritime celebrations and memorials. In December 2011 the Headley Trust awarded Shieldhall a grant of £32,000 to help fund the repair work to the engine room framing, and this has raised hopes of getting her back into a seaworthy condition.
