Workington trade rises

In November and December 2011 the small port of Workington in Cumbria saw good levels of trade, with a variety of vessels visiting. The Cypriot-flagged cement carrier Cemvale (1992/2,894gt) arrived in early December with liquid cement, while the offshore supply vessel Atlantic Osprey was in dock at the same time. The ill-fated vessel Swanland, which sank off Wales in November, had also paid two recent visits to Workington with cargoes of aggregate. The trade, which has seen the largest increase of shipments, though, is that of peat, which arrives at Workington from Ireland on the 3,698dwt Linnau and 3,670dwt Muhlenau.
