Israeli ports hosts its largest boxboat

The 2005-built MSC Maeva (89,954gt, pictured) became the largest container ship to call at Haifa Port when she arrived in November 2012, opening a new era for the port and the Israeli shipping. Almost 1,600 containers were unloaded and loaded during this visit. Although the deepening of the port's entry canal was only completed the week before, the container ship was able to berth with ease. A new terminal with six new ship-to-shore cranes (SPP) has been built at the port.
