The range of vessel types using LNG as a fuel continues to grow, and the next will be a trailing suction hopper dredger being built by Royal IHC of the Netherlands for Belgium's DEME Group. To be the first of DEME's new Antigoon class, and expected to take the name Scheldt River when completed next year, the 104m-long dredger will have a hopper capacity of approximately 8,000m~3 and a maximum draught of 7.5m. Three Waertsilae 34DF engines, one 12-cylinder and one nine-cylinder, will provide power for two Waertsilae controllable pitch propellers and two transverse thrusters, as well as the dredger's massive pumping system.
