First vessel at new port

In June the multipurpose heavylift vessel Meri, registered in Turku, Finland, became the first vessel to be handled at the new port of Bronka, just outside of St Petersburg, when she delivered three rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes for the new Russian gateway from Konecranes in Finland. Operated by Finnish Shipping company Meriaura, she became the first commercial ship to transit the newly-built canal that provides access to the port of Bronka. The RTG cranes will be used at Bronka's new deepwater container terminal, which was scheduled to begin operations in September.
