Stena Superfast Ⅹ Irish Sea transformation

Stena Line completed a major transformation of key Irish Sea routes by introducing Stena Superfast Ⅹ between Holyhead and Dublin at the beginning of March. This came a little over three years after sisterships Stena Superfast Ⅶ and Stena Superfast Ⅷ added a fresh dimension to the North Channel crossing, which was switched from Stranraer to link a new purpose-built Cairnryan terminal with Belfast. They put the emphasis back on conventional tonnage after long spells with HSS catamarans as the principal passenger and vehicle carriers on the Central Corridor and North Channel routes. Belfast's fast link, operated by Stena Voyager, ended in 2011, and it was no surprise when what had become a seasonal Holyhead-Dun Laoghaire service by the 1996-built Stena Explorer was dropped completely.
