As this issue of Ships Monthly was being finalised, it was announced that P&O Ferries are set to close the Hull to Zeebrugge route, and sell the two ships that have operated it for many years. Although the route, which is known to have been loss-making for a number of years, has been heavily impacted by Covid-19, the news is still disappointing as the two ships have recently been refurbished. The route is particularly reliant on passengers, although also carries a significant amount of freight, and consequently the pandemic has had a more significant impact on it, but how many more ferries will be withdrawn from their pre-Covid routes?
