Delivering the goods

The Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) has delivered worldwide logistical and operational support to the Royal Naw since 1905. They began with a fleet of tankers providing coal bunkers and stores, just as the RN embarked on a rapid construction programme to reinforce British global naval supremacy. By World War I the Naw had moved from sail to become to a wide-ranging fighting force comprised entirely of coal burning ships, such as ironclads and Dreadnought era battleships.
