From 25 October to 7 November 2018 a large NATO exercise, Trident Juncture, took place involving soldiers, sailors and airman from 31 countries. It took place in central and eastern Norway;the surrounding areas of the North Atlantic and the Baltic, including Iceland; and Swedish and Finnish airspace.This 'training zone' saw 50,000 men and women, accompanied by 250 aircraft, 65 combat ships and 10,000 vehicles, working to show their ability to operate together. The US Navy's aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) was also involved. The scenariofor the exercise was simple: Norway found itself invaded by an enemy and, in response, NATO was deploying forces to help the occupied country.
