Comment -World bulk carrier fleet

The world bulk carrier fleet continued to expand during 2013, but growth has begun to slow down. Due to the high order activities in the boom years 2007 and 2008, bulker fleet capacity growth reached a peak during 2010 with an increase of 17 per cent y-o-y- This was followed by a further 13.7 per cent during 2011 and 11.1 per cent during 2012. In 2013 newbuilding deliveries reached 'only' 60 million dwt, so the bulk carrier fleet in service has grown by 5.8 per cent. In the period 2010-2014 the volume of tonnage of the bulk carrier fleet increased by 56 per cent.
