Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair, Inc. (NSR) was newly established on April 1, 2003 as a subsidiary of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES). The company took over the business line of Shipbuilding Division of Niigata Engineering Co., Ltd., with its 100 years of experience. It builds special purpose vessels such as salvage, anchor handling supply and buoy laying vessels, medium-sized tankers, various types of fishing vessels, research vessels and training vessels. For applying the integrated technologies of MES to its own vast experience, the company has been aiming to develop its business line and enter new fields. In addition, NSR does repair work at its shipyards in Niigata and Misaki.
