In the past few months, Bollinger Shipyards in the USA has delivered the first examples of its new 220 Series or 'Super Shelf Series' 63m Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) to owners MNM Boats (a subsidiary of C&G Boats) and fellow US operator Seacor Marine, both of whom attest to the ability of the new design to carry the quantities of cargo usually only found in larger vessels The first of the new 220 Series, MNM Boats' Sara Jane was delivered earlier this year, and soon followed into service by another ship built to the same design, Miss Jolie. More recently, Seacor also took delivery of its first Super Shelf Series vessel, Seacor Madison, which will be followed into service by two more vessels, to which Seacor has given the name 'President' class. Bollinger's aim in developing the Super Shelf Series was 'to provide more cargo capacities, more versatility, more options and lower operating costs than larger vessels,' objectives which it seem to have achieved, given the excellent reports from MNM Boats and Seacor since the vessels entered service.
