Distinctive tugs take shape

Tugs on the North American waterways have evolved in a distinctive shape, betraying their traditional roots. This specialised sector of the tugs business is well served by domestic builders and suppliers, including US engine builder Cummins, whose products are popular in tug applications. Despite the devastation caused by 2005's hurricane-force winds to the Louisiana area, where much of this industry sector is located, new boats are still being turned out at a respectable rate.
