摘要

Norway's ship design and building industries continue to benefit from strong orderbooks in the offshore sector, but the country's shipowing interests keep the maritime support market fully occupied too. The Norwegians probably invented the term 'maritime cluster'. Certainly the first time I came across it was in Norway. The country is a logical place for such a maritime cluster. It is home to numerous shipowners, with both large and small fleets. Its geography is such that much of the population is concentrated along the coasts, and with the numerous fiords and mountains the sea often forms the most logical transport route, so there are many ferries and considerable coastal traffic.
