Damen Fast Ro-pax Delivered

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem has delivered what have been described as the largest aluminium vessels designed and built in the history of the Damen Group. Ship & Boat International looks at this significant construction in more detail. The two Damen Fast Ropax (DFR) 8521 ferries - named Yavuz Sultan Selim-1 and Kanuni Sultan Suleyman - were designed and built by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and arrived in Turkey in late 2008 to be received by their operating owner, Istanbul Deniz Otobuesleri. Istanbul Deniz Otobuesleri is the maritime transport authority of Istanbul and has incorporated the new vessels into its large ferry fleet to operate in the Sea of Marmara and the Istanbul Straits.
