ECA-friendly tugs make debut

Brought to bear initially on the company's Scandinavian port operations, Svitzer Marines ECOtug class is the product of more than two years' development by the groups newbuilding team, in cooperation with several suppliers. In particular, the functional integration of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology with the main engines means that the ECOtugs will meet the exacting IMO Tier Ⅲ NOx emission criteria without the need for any additional measures. The Tier Ⅲ regulations are to be implemented in Emission Control Areas(ECAs) from January 2016 onwards.
