Burger begins Grayling job

Burger Boats of Wisconsin, US is to construct a steel fisheries research vessel for the US Geological Survey. Designed by Connecticut's JMA Naval Architects, the vessel, which is currently monikered Grayling, will feature a length of 23.6m, a breadth of 7.9m and a depth of 3.4m, and is earmarked for delivery in Q3 2014. The vessel will be powered by twin Caterpillar C12 engines, rated 334kW each, and a Wesmar-manufactured 37kW bow thruster, delivering a service speed of 9.5knots, increasing to 10.5knots max. Features will include onboard wet lab and dry lab and two deck-mounted hydraulic trawl winches.
