While the offshore wind farm support sector witnesses evolving craft designs, operator Delta Marine is proving that some of the older workboats on the market are still capable of fulfilling a versatile range of tasks, sometimes beyond their contractual remits. The company, based in Shetland, Scotland, was recently contracted to provide anchor handling duties to a cable layer operating at a wind park off the coast of Grimsby, in water depths of approximately 15m. This site houses a total of 73 turbines, each rated 3MW, spread across an area of 25km~2. These turbines are intended to provide the energy required to power up to 170,000 homes.
