Turkey and Norway bond over Losna launch

Ada Shipyard of Istanbul has launched a new ro-pax ferry for Norwegian operator FJORD1, christened Losna. FJORD1 will operate Losna, alongside her sister ship Hornelen, in Turkey, once the duo have completed sea trials and are officially delivered to the operator between July and September this year. Losna and Hornelen each feature a length of 75.8m overall, a moulded breadth of 14.2m, a depth of 5.55m, a draught of 3.8m and a deadweight of 400tonnes. Each ferry has been designed to carry up to 60 cars (assessed on vehicle dimensions of 4.3m x 1.85m), or six trailers (each trailer measuring 19.5m x 2.6m), with a passenger capacity of 195 persons and a four-man crew. Vehicles are loaded and unloaded via ramps at each of the vessels' ends.
