Denmark agrees replacement for EKKO

The Danish Coastal Authority has contracted domestic boatbuilder Tuco Marine to replace its 34-year-old, 10m survey ship EKKO with a state-of-the-art, modern equivalent. Valued at DKK10 million (US$1.6 million) and scheduled for handover in 2022, the incoming hydrographic survey ship, based on Tuco's ProZero boat range, will measure nearly 15m × 3.7m and draw 920mm at full load. The vessel will primarily harvest data relevant to climate change and coastal protection in Danish waters, particularly on the country's west coast, but will also undertake harbour basin surveys and inspections of structures. Additionally, the ProZero will serve as a platform for diver deployments and search and rescue operations.
