Experimental Investigation on Convective Heat Loss from a Cylindrical Cavity Receiver with Isothermal Wall Condition

摘要

The experimental investigation on convective heat loss of a cylindrical cavity receiver operating under isothermal condition is reported in this paper. The experiments were conducted at three operating temperatures 200℃, 300℃ and 400℃ at cavity inclinations of 0° (cavity aperture facing sideway), 30°, 60° and 90° (cavity aperture facing ground). The experimental results have been compared with the numerical predictions, obtained from three dimensional simulation using CFD package Fluent 6.3.26. It is seen that the experimental results agree reasonably well with the numerical predictions, thus validating the numerical scheme.
