It's hard to believe the first few months of 2009 have come to a close. As predicted, historical conditions never before seen in the semiconductor industry continue to plague the business climate. Although we have all learned to expect normal industry cyclicality, we have never faced the bottom of a seemingly "normal" cycle, further compounded by a global macroeconomic crisis. rnFor years and throughout several cycles, customers have told us that even under the most severe market conditions they would continue to invest in technology development as a means of preserving their near-future competitive advantage. Right now, some technology buys are still happening but are limited to the market leaders. With the exception of logic customers who continued to invest, foundry and memory were essentially idle during our last fiscal quarter.
