Staying out front: Benelux boasts some world-beating ports that plan to stay that way

The New Year certainly brought a welcome upturn for the Benelux maritime industry as ports saw the arrival of double-digit figures again for full-year 2010, taking many ports themselves by surprise. Europe's largest port, Rotterdam saw an 11.1% climb in cargo throughput on 2009 levels, rising to 430m tonnes. This figure even managed to beat the previous record of 2008 (by 2.1%).
