ASRY's offshore focus pays off

Rig upgrades for drilling companies keen to work for Saudi Aramco have provided a steady stream of business at ASRY Offshore Services, a division which is making a rising contribution to total yard revenues. General manager Andy Shaw says 2012 revenues are up again by 15-20%, with a number of larger upgrade contracts completed over the year. Meanwhile, Saudi Aramco's intention to expand its drilling operations, and its demanding standards, should mean more of the same in the months ahead. But following the division's rapid expansion over the last few years, Shaw sees a period of consolidation ahead. 'Our target is to consolidate our position,' he says. 'We're not really looking to increase turnover dramatically this year.'
