One of the first orders for Wartsila's new low pressure, two-stroke, dual-fuel engine came from Chinese owner Zhejiang Huaxiang Shipping Co.Ltd in March this year. A five-cylinder RT-flex50DF engine (below) and gas valve unit with other relevant equipment has been ordered for the 14,000cu mtr LNG carrier which will ship LNG along the Chinese coast. The vessel is now under construction at the Qidong Fengshun Ship Heavy Industry Co, built to a Marine Design & Research Institute of China design and classed by the Chinese Class Society.
