Last year's decline in orders has accelerated during the first quarter of this year, with only 77 vessels of 1.2m gt booked during the three-month period, according to Clarksons Research. The Q1 total compares to an historical average of 91.8m gt annually over the 10-year period from 2005 to 2014, writes Clarksons analyst Trevor Crowe. In 2015 the rate was already nearly 25% off, at 70.2m gt.
