ULCs enter transPac trade

When the 18,000teu Benjamin Franklin sailed into Los Angeles harbour in late December, it was accorded a Hollywood welcome. The new CMA CGM ship, inbound from Korea, was deemed the largest to ever grace a port in North America, longer than the Empire State building is high, and was hailed by a contingent of celebrants, including the Mayor, journalists, photographers, port officials, labour leaders, congressmen and others.
