Star Lanka Shipping, agents for Israel's ZIM Lines, has had an outstanding 2018, achieving an over-all increase of 22% in the areas of export, import and transhipment, compared to Colombo port's year-on-year growth of 17%. 'Of course, our growth must be viewed against the backdrop of the fact that we move 1.9% of Colombo's annual volumes,' says Star Lanka's md, Capt. Anirban Banerjee. 'ZIM has a 1.6% share of the global market, so we have done slightly better than that!'
