Livestock trade in limbo

A bitter dispute between protagonists in Australia's lucrative livestock trade and animal welfare activists who believe the trade to be inhumane is causing serious problems for all stakeholders in the livestock supply chain, stretching from Australia to Asia and the Middle East. Australian sheep farmers and truckers have been unable to export live sheep or cattle since June this year when Emanuel Exports, one of Australia's largest shippers of livestock, had its license suspended by Australia's Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.
