The Northrop Grumman-built Surface-to-Surface Missile Module (SSMM) is a missile system that is a module of the Surface Warfare Mission Package (SUW MP) for the U.S. Navy's Littoral Combat Ship. The SSMM's missile, the Lockheed Martin AGM-114L Longbow Hellfire, is a short-range missile adapted for maritime use against fast attack craft. The Hell-fire missile is fired from an SSMM vertical launcher built by Teledyne Brown Engineering Inc. The SSMM launcher has a capacity of 24 Hellfire missiles. The SSMM will be a component of the SUW MP on the Navy's Freedom- and Independence-class Littoral Combat Ships. Northrop Grumman is under contract to deliver two SSMM systems toward a stated Navy requirement of 12 systems.
