Navy League Presents 2008 Sea Services Awards

A riveting guest speaker and a rank advancement highlighted the Navy League's 2008 Sea Services Awards luncheon Oct. 31 at the National Convention in Kansas City, Mo. The awards are given to officer, enlisted and civilian members of the Navy Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine for inspirational leadership and personal contributions that advanced the logistics readiness and competence of the sea services. Navy League National President J. Michael McGrath presided over the ceremony. In his keynote address, Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Douglas M. Stone cited the importance of the sea services and organizations - like the Navy League - that support them. "The United States sea services are in the business of peace - promoting it, providing it and reinforcing it," Stone said. "But we are also in the business of waging and winning America's wars when we are called to do so.
