Great Lakes Councils Lend Support To Returning Warrior Workshops

Councils in the Navy League's Great Lakes Region are pitching in to support a Navy Reserve initiative aimed at re-acclimating and re-integrating reservists returning to civilian life from service in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. The Great Lakes Region - which includes councils in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Kentucky - has volunteered to partner with the Navy Region Midwest Reserve Component Command on behalf of the Returning Warrior Workshops (RWWs), quarterly sessions held to help reservists cope with the dramatic transition from combat life after they return home. Councils from the region have been raising funds to sponsor the spouses of reservists who attend these workshops since late last year, according to Fergal P. Gallagher, president of the Lake County, 111., Council.
