The Marine Corps appeared positioned to be reasonably well supported in the new fiscal year as Congress neared completion of the 2010 defense funding bill.rnAlthough the new defense appropriations bill had not been signed into law by press time Oct. 15, the slightly different versions passed by the House and Senate provided nearly all the personnel, operations and maintenance (O&M) and major procurement funding requested in President Barack Obama's budget and in the overseas contingency operations (OCO) request.rnThere were "three main items at issue of concern to the commandant," Charles Cook, assistant deputy commandant for programs and resources, said as the House and Senate worked to reconcile the differences in the two bills.
