Supporters of the F/A-18E/F won a hard-fought victory last month as lawmakers agreed to legislation that would permit the Navy to make a long-term commitment to buy more of the Super Hornets.rnAfter weeks of House-Senate negotiations on the $680.2 billion measure, the final defense authorization bill for fiscal 2010 includes a provision that allows the Navy to sign a multiyear procurement deal with Boeing Co. for the fighters, as well as the E/A-18G Growler electronic-attack aircraft based on the same platform, as a way to mitigate a looming strike fighter shortfall.
