The naval war in the Mediterranean in World War II is generally well-chronicled in historical literature, mostly from the vantage point of the U.K. Royal Navy. With this book, naval historian Vincent O'Hara analyzes the theater with a close look at the actions of all of its major participating navies -those of Britain, Italy, Germany, France and the United States - to craft a narrative that challenges some of the traditional assumptions of the theater's history. O'Hara breaks new ground in assessing the performance and strategic posture of the French and Italian navies and on the surprisingly effective German use of sea power in an area where it was able to field very limited forces.
