Republicans on the Senate Armed Services Committee will have a new leader in the 113th Congress, with Arizona Sen. John McCain hitting his six-year term limit as the ranking member of the panel. A Navy pilot who was a prisoner of war during Vietnam, McCain could seek a waiver of the Republican rules limiting senators' time in committee leadership posts. But sources closely tracking the panel say the 2008 Republican presidential nominee will abide by the rules and step aside, with the job widely expected to go to Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, the next most senior Republican on the committee.
