I joined the USCG to serve my country, to travel, to meet and work with people from across the United States, but most importantly, for the experience. My first station was the USCGC Polar Sea. I was part of deck force and maintaining the ship was no easy task. I earned helm and lookout qualifications while underway. In port, I obtained my Gangway Petty Officer of the Watch qualification and security qualifications.
