Guests at the NMHS Awards Dinner in New York declared it a remarkable evening. NMHS advisor Russ Jinishian brought original art from his gallery, as did artists Bill Muller and Paul Garnett. In displaying his art, Paul Garnett spoke at length about the research involved in creating paintings of historic ships, from learning the specifics of the weather conditions on the day of the scene depicted, to capturing details of the ship's rigging and uniforms of the sailors. The US Coast Guard Academy Chorale's performance, from shanties to patriotic anthems, was enchanting, as always.
