When terrorists attacked the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001, nearly one million people were stranded in lower Manhattan, desperate to get out of the city. The sheer number of people,rnamid the confusion and terror of that morning, would have overwhelmed the emergency personnel and agencies had it not been for the immediate response of dozens of commercial tugs, ferries, and passenger vessels, which arrived on the scene to transport people across the river to New Jersey. New York's M/V Sightseer XII, a passenger tour boat, was among the vessels that came to their rescue.
