Integrated Ocean Drilling Program Will Proceed

In their news & analysis piece ("U.S. TO leave consortium and go it alone after 2013," 26 August, p. 1079), R. A. Kerr and D. Normile write that the United States plans to pull out of the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP). This is not accurate. The National Science Foundation's announcement indicates only a change in the operational structure. The three current platforms will continue to conduct international science but will be managed separately.
