Micronuclei in lymphocyte subsets in relation to plasma mercury, dental amalgam and acrylate-containing tooth fillings

Due to the controversies of potential health problems associated with dental amalgam fillings, Swedish dentistry supports the use of different types of composites, i.e. acrylate-containing filling materials, since the mid-1990s. These compounds, however, are strong inducers of skin allergy among occupationally exposed individuals (Murer et al., 1995). There are also indications, in different test systems, that these substances are mutagenic (Schweikl and Schmalz, 1999). We now wish to report On cytogenetic damage of B-lymphocytes in relation to dental amalgam and composite tooth fillings in Swedish adolescents.
